Inspirational Story from Obase Rose,
a 32 year old woman from Yaoundé, Cameroon helping support young women

“I remember when I was unable to go to school. I was sent out for fees of less than $50. This really made me stay away from school, as I had to get pap (corn cereals) with my mother in the market every market day early in the morning before going to school. I would arrive late and would be punished. After that, I was sent away from school. My family had 8 people, and in a large family of 8 people, my dad was unable to sponsor all of us to attend school. I can vividly recall that I never had textbooks or good shoes. I could barely eat well. When I went to the university it became worse. I had no house to stay in. So, I had to work as a part time sales girl in many establishments. God made it possible for me to graduate. I am currently doing my PhD with no sponsorship. I have my NGO which helps to support young women.”
